The Claims Analyst responsible for meeting the needs of the customers and supporting the company by reviewing vertexed claims, EDI claims or entering on-line claims submitted by providers and members, and by researching problems pertaining to claim payments and eligibility verification. This position must have knowledge of all products and benefit plans assigned to them, offered by the customer. The Claim Analyst works independently and under minimal supervision, and performs in accordance with company standards and policies.
High School Diploma required
Completion of two years post high school education helpful, but not required
Two years related experience in an insurance or managed care environment
Clerical and record keeping skills
Interpersonal skills necessary to work well with others
Must maintain confidentially
Knowledge of managed care industry or health/benefits/insurance
Good organizational and communication skills
Software skills - PC and mainframe applications
A typical candidate would have:
· Experience in the medical field…such as working in the patient registry at a doctor’s or physician’s office.
· People who have experience verifying and paying insurance claims.
· Insurance background. (verification, claims, medical insurance) or knowledge of the insurance industry.
· Excellent customer service.
· A basic knowledge of medical coding and billing.
