The Illinois Shakespeare Festival will present a preview performance of Richard II tonight (Thursday) beginning at 7:30 pm at Ewing Manor (located at 617 E. Emerson in Bloomington).  On Friday, they will present Love's Labour's Lost beginning at 8 pm, Q Gents (a modern version of Two Gentlemen of Verona with a hip-hop twist) will be presented beginning at 7:30 on Saturday and Richard II will play again on Sunday beginning at 7:30 pm.  Tickets range from $31 - $47 for adults and $20 - $43 for students and are available by calling 309-438-2535 Monday - Friday from Noon - 4 pm, at the box office just prior to the performance or online at www.thefestival.org/tickets  For more information, visit www.thefestival.org

Things My Mother Taught Me continues tonight (Thursday) at the Barn 2 Dinner Theatre in Goodfield and runs through July 26. Tonight (Thursday) & Friday, doors open at 6 pm, buffet is at 6:30 pm, and the show is at 8 pm. On Sunday, doors & the buffet open at noon and the show is at 1:30 pm. The Morton Fine Arts Association will present Arts in the Park featuring the Pekin Park Concert Band from 7 - 9 pm tonight (Thursday) at  Idlewood Park (located at 450 E Greenwood St. in Morton). Peoria Historical Society's River City Trolley Tour winds along Grandview Drive takes place every Friday in July beginning at 10:30 am leaving from Harp & Thistle (located at 4605 N Prospect Road in Peoria Heights).  Cost for the tour is $15 (including a $1 tip for the driver) and seniors 65 and older ride the trolley free with proof of age and a regular ticket purchase. A Sightseeing Cruise will take place on the Spirit of Peoria on Friday and Sunday with boarding beginning at 1:30 pm and the cruise running from 2 - 3:30 pm. The Annual Fireworks Spectacular at Glen Oak Amphitheatre will take place on Friday from 4 - 10 pm with live entertainment and fireworks. Admission is free. Entertainment includes the PPD Explosion Cheer Team from 4 - 4:30 pm, Troope Mirage from 4:30 - 5 pm, the cast of Community Children's Theatre's "Wizard of Oz" from 5 - 5:30 pm, the Clonmel Marching Band fro Clonmel Ireland from 6 - 7:30 pm and the Municipal Band Patriotic Concert at 8 pm. Fireworks begin at dark. Bring blankets and lawn chairs and bring a picnic dinner or enjoy food from vendors in the park.
The CIAO First Fridays Artists' Tour will take place from 5 - 9 pm on Friday at 10 different locations in downtown Peoria including The Mill, Murray Center for the Arts, the Contemporary Art Center, and the Peoria Art Guild where visitors can view artist demonstrations as well as purchase pieces. The 45th Annual West Peoria 4th of July Parade will take place on Saturday beginning at 10 am at the West Peoria City Hall (located at 2506 W Rohmann Ave. in West Peoria) and travels down Sterling to Moss, across to Waverly, up to Rohmann, back to Sterling and concludes at the Franciscan Recreation Complex. At the end of the parade, there will be a flag raising ceremony in the park and the Senior Summer Band will perform.
Sculpture Walk Peoria will lead free guided tours of the 15 sculptures that are on display for 12 months on Washington Street between Oak and Liberty every Saturday through the summer. The ELITE Youth Program will host an outreach fundraiser at the RiverPlex Recreation and Wellness Center on Saturday beginning at 5 pm. For $40 admission, you'll receive reserved parking with up to 4 people per car, exclusive use of the RiverPlex facility, exclusive access to the riverfront lawn for viewing the fireworks. Additional family members may be included for an extra $10 and reserved picnic tables are also an extra $10. Reserved parking closes at 8:30 pm or until parking is full. The Red, White & Boom Fireworks Display will take place on the Peoria Riverfront on Saturday beginning at 5 pm with vendors, live entertainment and more. The synchronized fireworks show is scheduled to begin at 9:30 pm. Voices of Glory will perform at Northwoods Community Church (located at 10700 N. Allen Rd. in Peoria) on Saturday at 6 pm and Sunday at 9 am & 11 am. The three sibling sensation overcame a stunning family tragedy to rise to the spotlight on the hit NBC show "America's Got Talent." Admission is free.
View the Peoria Fireworks display from the John C. Flanagan House Museum (located at 942 NE Glen Oak Avenue in Peoria) on Saturday with gates opening at 6 pm courtesy of the Peoria Historical Society. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children.
