Erin Feis will take place at Festival Park on the Peoria Riverfront from 4 - 11:30 pm on Friday, 11:30 am - 11:30 pm on Saturday, and 9:30 am - 6 pm on Sunday. Showcasing Irish heritage through song, dance, food, drink and cultural exhibits, there will be Irish bands, musicians and dancers on multiple stages, a vendor marketplace, and much more. The Color Purple continues at Corn Stock Theatre with performances beginning at 7:30 pm each night through Saturday. The Annual Dunlap Days Festival will be held at North Park (JFL Field located at 100 N. Hickory Street in Dunlap) beginning at 6 pm tonight (Thursday), 6 pm on Friday & 8 am on Saturday. There will be live entertainment by Jamm Sammich, a bags tournament, a carnival, a petting zoo, a beer garden & food, a pancake & sausage breakfast (on Saturday morning), crafts & vendors, a decorated bike safety rodeo, bike contest & parade, face painting and more. Peoria Historical Society's Grandview Drive & Springdale Cemetery Trolley Tour winds along Grandview Drive and takes place every Friday in August beginning at 11 am leaving from Harp & Thistle (located at 4605 N Prospect Road in Peoria Heights).  The "Abraham Lincoln & the Civil War Tour" tells the story of Lincoln's visits to Peoria, the Civil War troops and Camp Peoria & Camp Lyon where they trained. You'll visit Springdale Cemetery and see the final resting place of Civil War veterans. Running on Saturdays in August beginning at 11 am, the tour leaves from Kelleher's Irish Pub, (located at 619 SW Water Street near State St. in downtown Peoria).  And the "Roll Out the Barrel Tour" takes you through the earliest sections of downtown Peoria and into the Warehouse District where you'll discover facts about distilling in Peoria running Saturdays in August beginning at 1:30 pm also leaving from Kelleher's Irish Pub.  Cost for each tour is $15 and seniors 65+ ride the trolley free with proof of age and a regular ticket purchase. A Sightseeing Cruise will take place on the Spirit of Peoria on Friday, Saturday & Sunday beginning at 2 pm plus an extra early cruise on Saturday beginning at 11 am. Dinosaur Family Night will take place at the Peoria Riverfront Museum on Friday from 5 - 8 pm. Featuring a tour of the Dinosaurs in Motion exhibition, a maker's space where you can try your hand at creating artistic sculptures and move-able models of your favorite dinosaurs, a fossil station where you'll learn how fossils form and make one of your own to keep.  At the end of the night, you'll immerse yourself in the prehistoric world of dinosaurs with "Prehistoric Planet 3D" in the Giant Screen Theater. The 37th Annual Zoo Run Run benefiting the Peoria Zoo begins at 8:30 am on Saturday with a quarter-mile youth run and 5K Grand Prix race though the Peoria Zoo and Glen Oak Park. Registration includes a 2015 Zoo Run Run t-shirt, prizes and post-race food. Sculpture Walk Peoria will lead free guided tours of the 15 sculptures that are on display for 12 months on Washington Street between Oak and Liberty every Saturday through the summer. The 9th Annual Morton Strongman Contest 'Muscle on Main' will be held on Main Street in downtown Morton on Saturday from 10:30 am - 3 pm. The public is invited to view amazing feats of strength by dedicated athletes. There will also be food available for purchase. Admission for spectators is free.
The 27th Annual Duck Race benefiting The Center for Prevention of Abuse will kick off at Noon on Saturday with the race beginning at 2 pm at the Eastside Centre in East Peoria. A fundraiser for the organization, cost to adopt a duck is $5. Winning ducks are selected at random when the thirty-thousand ducks will race down a slip-n-slide along the street entrance. Prizes include a $5,000 cash grand prize plus gift cards to popular retail stores and restaurants. All proceeds benefit the Center for Prevention of Abuse.
