A lot of industries and IT companies have come up in Kerala recently. The startup costs in the state are substantially low compared to other competitive locations. The startup costs are as low as 75% in environments like Technopark and Infopark which are known to be walk- in- and- manufacture environments. The operating costs are minimal for industrial units located in the state due to low starting salaries, combined with low rentals, power, water and transport tariffs.
When compared to the national level, the living standard of Keralites is very high. In terms of education, health and literacy the state is India’s most progressed society with a population of about 30 million. Also in terms of Physical Quality of Life Index (PQLI) and Human Development Index Kerala ranks first. Kerala has been adopted by the World bodies as a role model for developing countries due to its highest literacy rate in the country, highest life expectancy, least population growth and lowest infant mortality.
Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation Ltd. is owned by the Government of Kerala which helps the promotion and development of medium and large scale units in the state including service sectors like tourism, star category hotels, resorts, hospitals, infrastructure projects etc. The key areas of their focus are industrial and infrastructure development, development and administration of Growth centers, financial structuring and loan syndication, feasibility study and project evaluation.
These facilities help the development of a number of industries. As a result the standard of living in Kerala has been increasing due to which the Kerala real estate prices have been going up day by day.
