This 8-time Tony Award winning musical has thrilled audiences around the world and will now be performed at Corn Stock Theatre by a talented cast of 100 youth from all over Central Illinois. This exhilarating musical voyage runs July 16th through July 24th and is sponsored in part by CEFCU. Based on Victor Hugo’s classic novel, LES MISÉRABLES tells the story about ex-convict Jean Valjean and his attempts to start a new life as he is pursued relentlessly by policeman Javert over decades through the tumult of revolutionary France. This blockbuster musical also showcases a Tony Award-winning score including the songs I Dreamed a Dream, Do You Hear the People Sing?, One Day More, Empty Chairs at Empty Tables, A Little Fall of Rain, Bring Him Home, Master of the House, and On My Own. This unique production has been created for Corn Stock’s theater-in-the-semi-round. According to LES MISÉRABLES director Pam Orear, Corn Stock’s intimate space plays a key role in this production. “The audience will be closer to the acting company and will feel like they are experiencing the drama of the musical as it unfolds,” says Orear “I am thrilled to bring this musical masterpiece to Corn Stock Theatre.” All the drama and music of the original are still found in this Student Edition, but it has been abridged to a running time of just over two hours while still maintaining the integrity of one of the greatest musicals ever written.” In addition to Pam Orear (Director), the creative team for LES MISÉRABLES Student Edition includes Harry Williams. Tickets are $18.00 for adults and $12.00 for students and can be purchased by calling the Corn Stock box office at 676-2196. Showtime is 7:30 PM.
